Liverpool are reportedly holding talks with AS Roma in a bid to sign Mohamed Salah after an initial bid of £28 million got rejected.

According to a report by BBC, the Merseyside outfit are in renewed talks with AS Roma as Jurgen Klopp attempts to sign Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah for the second time. Earlier reports from yesterday suggested that their initial offer was turned down by Roma.

It does seem like Roma are waiting around to get a higher bid for the forward and with the way things are progressing, Liverpool are likely to go higher in order to sign Salah.

Jürgen Klopp has made the winger one of his top priorities as the club prepare for the new Premier League season and the Champions League play-off games.

This is not the first time Salah’s path has crossed with Liverpool. Back in 2014, Brendan Rodgers was also keen on procuring the then Basel winger, and in that January he was set to move to Merseyside. However, the clubs failed to agree a deal and Salah joined Chelsea instead.

However, he failed to become a first team regular at Chelsea and was loaned out to Fiorentina in February 2015 before joining the Serie A club permanently.

Salah has just completed his second season at Roma – he joined the club on loan from Fiorentina in the 2015/16 season, and has managed to blossom into one of Serie-A’s most dangerous players. During two seasons with Roma, he has scored 29 league goals in 65 games.

Judging by his form and style of play, he is likely to be an ideal fit for Liverpool. The Reds struggled for speed last season as they had to play without Sadio Mané, especially at Anfield where they found it difficult to restrict teams, and in that sense, Salah can be beneficial.

Although Salah is essentially a right winger, he can also play well on the left, behind the main striker or even as an attacking midfielder. His versatility will prove to be beneficial for Jurgen Klopp as the manager looks to strengthen Liverpool’s attack ahead of the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are also believed to have signed 19-year-old Dominic Solanke from Chelsea. Jurgen Klopp’s side are also rumoured to battle AS Roma in signing Rafinha.

As far as defenders are concerned, the Merseyside outfit are eyeing Manchester City’s Gael Clichy and Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk, who is also being chased by several top clubs.
