The two Manchester clubs are reportedly keen on signing AS Monaco’s attacking wizard Bernardo Silva in the summer.

According to French media outlet Le 10 Sport, Manchester United and Manchester City are vying for the signing of AS Monaco attacker Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese has enjoyed an exceptional spell in Ligue 1, and could look to make a move in the summer.

The report states that both the clubs have already begun working towards securing a summer move and have sent their representatives and scouts to ensure that there is some kind of breakthrough in the deal.

They are not the only clubs who appear to be interested in the player’s services as an array of top European sides are also looking to acquire the 22-year-old’s services come the end of the season.

Champions League holders Real Madrid are among the front-runners to secure the services of Silva and have two first-team Portuguese players in Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe that will look to help him out should he move to the Bernabeu in the summer.

Premier League leaders Chelsea are also linked with the 22-year-old along with his Monaco teammate Benjamin Mendy. Manager Antonio Conte is plotting a summer raid on the French outfit with a view to lure two of its key components to Stamford Bridge.

Thus, if either of the Manchester clubs want to sign Bernardo, they will have to shell out more money than any of his other suitors as the player is likely to move to a bigger club that will guarantee him Champions League football next season.

Manchester City are still to guarantee their participation in Europe’s elite club competition and will now battle Liverpool and probably Arsenal for the remaining two Champions League berths.

For Manchester United, however, it is a completely different ball game. Their recent loss to Arsenal has made things a lot more difficult for them. Earlier, they were looking to qualify for Europe’s elite club competition through either the Premier League or by winning the Europa League.

But now, they find themselves rank outsiders to make it into the top four, and even their manager Jose Mourinho has conceded defeat on that front, and has switched his focus to the Europa League.

Should both Manchester clubs manage to qualify, Bernardo may consider moving to either of the clubs. Both sides are planning massive summer overhauls, and could free space for a certain Portuguese superstar.
