Manchester United are looking to sign 16-year-old towering Swedish sensation Samuel Brolin, who currently plays for AIK Solna.

Manchester United have had a rich history of producing rich talents for the first-team at every position except the one between the posts in recent times. However, the Red Devils look intent on rectifying the same as they are now looking to sign 16-year-old AIK Solna custodian Samuel Brolin, who has been touted to have immense potential.

As per the Sun, The towering 6 ft. 5 keeper is due at Old Trafford in the coming days to hold talks and perhaps, even conduct a trial at Manchester United, with a view of making the move permanent in the near future. Brolin is also being tailed by a lot of other English clubs as well, who have not been named in the report.

The news comes amidst rumours of David De Gea being linked heavily with a summer move to Real Madrid and while Jose Mourinho has said that the player is happy at the club and there have been no talks, the rumours have continued to persist and even grow stronger by the day.

Brolin comes highly recommended by the Manchester United scouts, who have even gone to the extent of stating that they view the 16-year-old as having the potential to be the future first-choice at Old Trafford, after watching the player in action.

As mentioned above, United do not have much history of producing goalkeepers for the first-team setup. Their academy graduates have gone on to have successful careers elsewhere and are currently plying their trade in the Premier League – Tom Heaton and Ron Robert Zieler.

United currently have Sam Johnstone who has progressed through the academy along with Joel Castro Pereira – both of whom have shown a lot of promise.

United, though, have in the recent years have sought to sign towering keepers – signing Vanja Milinkovic Savic, who was ultimately released by the club, after the player failed to secure a work-permit to play in England. Brolin, though, is unlikely to have a problem in securing work-permit to play in England.

It will be intriguing to see if United do end up signing Brolin and if he is able to develop into a quality keeper in the future.
