Liverpool are close to sealing a deal to sign Hull City defender Andrew Robertson in the summer in deal worth around £8 million.

As per a report from Daily Mail, Liverpool are closing in on Hull City left-back Andrew Robertson. The Tigers may be in a precarious position as regards their survival chances in the Premier League. But, it seems Andrew might be set to see Premier League action for the next campaign as well, albeit at Anfield.

The report states that the Reds are close to sealing an £8 million deal to sign the Scottish international, who has impressed in his two Premier League seasons – both with Hull City in 2014-15 and now in the 2016-17 campaign.

Robertson has impressed with his work-rate and ability to be an influence on both ends of the pitch – something which his return of 1 goal and 2 assists fail to reflect. The 23-year-old is a regular feature in the Scottish national side now, with 14 senior caps to his name – along with his maiden senior goal for Scotland.

James Milner has adapted brilliantly in his transition from a midfield role to the left-back role. Still, his ageing presence, however solid, has cost Liverpool at some junctures – something that Klopp would prioritise correcting in the coming transfer window.

Alberto Moreno, the second-choice at Anfield, is almost sure to exit the club after a torrid time, with even the Liverpool fans booing the player on a few occasions. And Andrew Robertson – a young marauding left-back – seems to fit the bill.

Liverpool are somewhat short-handed compared to the other top Premier League clubs in financial terms, which has often hindered the Reds’ chances of beating other clubs to a priority target. However, they have more than compensated for those near-losses with exemplary bargains a-la Coutinho and Joel Matip.

And Robertson could be another bargain in the offing. The 23-year-old has Premier League experience and would be able to adjust quickly at Anfield. Also, the £8 million fee seems rather on the low side, with the player being an international as well as having Premier League experience – along with his age, 23.

Liverpool have been also linked with a move for Fulham sensation Ryan Sessegnon but face competition from a host of top Premier League clubs. And as mentioned above, they are fully aware of the fact that they may not be able to match up financially to the other teams – which makes Robertson a very realistic target.
