Borussia Dortmund have reportedly slapped a €60 million price tag on Barcelona and Real Madrid target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

According to a report in TransferMarketWeb, Borussia Dortmund are set to demand €60 million for star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in signing the Gabonese in the summer transfer window.

Aubameyang has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world in the last two seasons, having been in prolific form for Borussia Dortmund. 2015/16 turned out to be his best senior campaign as he finished second behind Robert Lewandowski (30) in the Bundesliga top scorers’ list with 25 goals.

And Aubameyang has already bettered that tally this season, having scored 26 goals in 27 German top flight games to romp to the top of the goalscoring charts. The Gabonese international has also scored 7 more goals across 12 more games in all competitions, and boasts of one of the best scoring rate in Europe.

With Aubameyang set to enjoy his most productive season till date, he has become one of the most sought after players in the world today. In fact, the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Chinese club Shanghai SIPG have all been linked with him, but Barcelona and Real Madrid are believed to be leading the race to sign him.

That is because Borussia Dortmund chief executive, Hans-Joachim Watze recently claimed that Aubameyang will only consider offers from the two La Liga heavyweights, if he were to leave the club in the summer.

Barcelona do not seem to be in need to acquiring a striker in the summer, with Luis Suarez in terrific form for them. And even if they do move for him, it is unlikely that Aubameyang will move to Camp Nou as long as the Uruguayan striker remains with the Catalan club, as he would be unwilling to share game time.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid could definitely be in need of a striker in the summer, with reports claiming that both Karim Benzema and Alvaro Morata are likely to leave at the end of the season. Thus, Zinedine Zidane is believed to be in search of a top striker, with Aubameyang possibly a top summer target.

Real Madrid could indeed be the front runners in the race to sign Aubameyang, after he previously claimed that he dreams about playing for Los Blancos. However, Dortmund are unlikely to let go of their prized asset easily, as they are trying to tie him up to a new deal at the Signal Iduna Park.

It now remains to be seen if Real Madrid, or any other suitor for Aubameyang can manage to grab hold of the star striker in the summer, with Dortmund unwilling to sell him.
