Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly among four clubs interested in Bayern Munich superstar Joshua Kimmich.

German publication Kicker are claiming that both Manchester United and Manchester City are interested in Bayern Munich superstar Joshua Kimmich. The Manchester duo, along with two other unnamed Spanish clubs, are pursuing the German international who has become a regular at the Allianz Arena under Carlo Ancelotti.

Joshua Kimmich is a 22-year-old who arrived at Bayern Munich from Stuttgart in July 2015. In his debut season at the Allianz Arena, the player managed 36 appearances in total in all competitions and is on course to exceed the tally this season.

In the present campaign, he already has 31 appearances to his name, although a majority of his appearances have come in the central midfield which is not his natural position.

However, the player has come under the radar of several top clubs, who are all eyeing a move for the 22-year-old. Manchester United, Manchester City and two unnamed Spanish clubs are said to be in the reckoning for the signature of the German international.

Even though he has played largely in central midfield, Jose Mourinho is likely eyeing him as a ready long-term solution for the right-back position, with Antonio Valencia the current first-choice at Old Trafford. United have been linked with several right-backs, with Nelson Semedo the most prominent.

Manchester City, on the other hand, are interested in Joshua Kimmich ever since the arrival of Pep Guardiola at Etihad. The former Bayern manager is looking to freshen up his wide defensive areas and is eyeing a reunion with Kimmich, having managed him during his time at Bayern.

The two clubs from Spain that are interested have not been named by Kicker but it is likely to be between Manchester United and Manchester City.

The report says that Kimmich likes to play in the central midfield and if he indeed wants to play in that position, the Manchester duo is likely to find a place for him in their squad in that position as well.

As at the present moment, the player has tough competition in the central midfield at the Allianz Arena and is finding it tough to gain the status of an undisputed starter in the first-team setup; something which is unlikely to be the case at either side of Manchester.

His Bayern Munich deal runs till 2020 and the Bavarians are unlikely to let their prized asset leave for cheap. They are certain to ask an astronomical fee in order to attempt to price out the suitors. But, with United and City both boasting of riches, Kimmich’s future might depend on his own will to either stay or move to the Premier League.
