Chelsea will offer Eden Hazard a contract worth £300,000 a week in order to make him stay at Stamford Bridge, according to reports

According to The Sun, negotiations over a new contract were only scheduled to take place at the end of the season but given Real Madrid’s clear interest in Eden Hazard, the Blues’ executives have decided to bring contract talks with the Belgian superstar much earlier than that.

Hazard’s current deal with the Blues runs until 2020 and despite the fact that he was given a new contract worth £200,000 a week only two years ago, Chelsea want to tie him down to a new contract as soon as possible in order to fend off interest from other clubs although the process has been made complicated by the fact that Hazard is in the process of changing his agent.

The Belgian international joined the Blues back in 2012 in a deal worth £32 million from Lille, a price that looks like an absolute steal now. He has since gone on to become one of their best players and was named Premier League Player of the Season for the 2014-15 campaign as he helped the Blues to a Premier League title.

There was some controversy surrounding Hazard last season, however, as it was reported that he was one of the players who had fallen out with then-manager Jose Mourinho and his form on the pitch suffered.

This season Hazard has been back to his best under new manager Antonio Conte after having been given more freedom on the pitch and he is likely to lead Chelsea to yet another title and possibly an FA Cup as well.

His performances have reignited Real Madrid’s interest in signing him and it is claimed that Los Blancos are willing to break the world record in order to bring Hazard to the Santiago Bernabeu, especially as Florentino Perez – who is up for re-election this summer – will want a Galactico signing to boost his chances.

Chelsea are reportedly confident that Hazard is happy in London under Antonio Conte and are confident of keeping him. This new contract – coupled with the Sun’s claims that they will promise him some significant signings in order to compete in the Champions League – will go some way to assuring Hazard that his future is at Stamford Bridge.
