Manchester United, Bayern Munich and AS Monaco are all showing great interest in Olympique Lyonnais starlet Lucas Tousart.
Italian publication Calciomercato have reported that Manchester United, Bayern Munich and AS Monaco are interested in Lucas Tousart. The highly-rated Olympique Lyonnais youngster has been drawing praise for his performances this season, and the top clubs have started circling the player.
Lucas Tousart arrived at Lyon from Valenciennes in August 2015 in a near £2 million transfer. But it is the 2016-17 campaign that has seen the rise of Tousart as a top defensive midfielder in not only the ranks at Lyon but in Ligue 1 overall.
The 19-year-old has made 16 Ligue 1 appearances while also making his mark in the UEFA Champions League as well as the Europa League. The midfielder also has 2 French Under-21 appearances under his belt as well.
His concrete and consistent displays in the middle of the park have also started attracting top clubs like Bayern Munich, Manchester United and AS Monaco as well.

Bayern Munich will lose Xabi Alonso at the end of the current campaign, with the veteran set to hang up his playing boots. Carlo Ancelotti is also eyeing the addition of an industrious player as a replacement for the Spanish veteran, with the Bavarians already linked with Roque Mesa lately. And Tousart is another player with a similar playing style.
The 19-year-old, though, could be too young and raw to replace the veteran instantly. The same is the case with Manchester United, who are looking for a replacement for Michael Carrick, who Mourinho has hinted could be playing out his last or penultimate season for the Red Devils.
AS Monaco, on the other hand, could be the dark horse in the race. The French club is already atop the Ligue 1 table and, with Tiemoue Bakayoko continuously being linked with several giants, they could do with a player of a similar profile, something which Tousart would fit.
As of now, Tousart’s contract is set to expire in 2019. But talks are already underway with Lyon over an extension on his current deal, which is likely to also put to rest the speculation caused by the interest of top clubs.
Lyon is ready to tie down Tousart to the club long-term. But, given the interest from clubs as mentioned above, Tousart could very well opt against signing a new deal.
