PSG have sent a five-page dossier and letter to UEFA complaining about the lacklustre refereeing during their 6-1 defeat against Barcelona.

According to Jason Burt of the Daily Telegraph, Ligue 1 giants Paris St. Germain have sent a five-page dossier as well as a letter to UEFA to protest against the unjust refereeing during their shambolic drubbing at the hands of Barcelona.

The report states that the French side have hired experts, former referees and other persons of footballing knowhow to analyse the controversial game that took place on the 8th of March 2017.

PSG went into the game riding on the back of an impressive 4-0 win they racked up at the Parc des Princes in the first leg. Prior to the match, no other side had overcome a four-goal deficit in the Champions League, and the French side were expected to progress to the final eight.

However, that wasn’t to be, as a number of controversial incidents led to Barcelona winning 6-1 on the night and 6-5 on aggregate. Referee Deniz Aytekin had an absolute howler of a game and has been under the microscope ever since he blew the final whistle at Camp Nou.

In PSG’s five-page dossier, they have mentioned how Aytekin came under the pressure of the Barcelona players and handed them two unnecessary penalties. They also stated that the Spaniards were given preferential treatment as they are the “bigger club.”

Les Parisiens have, in their letter, chalked out eight incidents that were wrongly handled and demanded to the UEFA that such things should not occur ever again in the future. However, they are not looking to request for a rematch to be played.

That being said, a petition started online, has been in the public limelight during the recent days and has seen over 200,000 people agree to it. The petition says that a rematch must be be contested as Barcelona were unjustly handed the game.

UEFA will now look into the evidence provided by the French club and are expected to make an announcement for the same in the due course. They might also look to alter their selection criteria of match officials, and ensure they are at a level that will not lead to such controversy in the future.
