Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a mammoth £50 million summer swoop for Tottenham’s versatile English international Eric Dier.

The Sun are reporting that Manchester United are interested in Tottenham defender Eric Dier. The English international has been linked with several top clubs like Chelsea and Bayern Munich this season. And it seems the Red Devils are looking to move for the player in the summer, when the transfer window reopens.

Eric Dier has become a full-fledged English international and become a regular for Tottenham since joining the North Londoners from Sporting CP in 2014. His rise saw him rack up a total of 14 senior caps for the Three Lions.

The fact that Dier has amassed a total of 121 appearances for Spurs in around three years, goes to testify how crucial a member of the first-team setup he has been. The player is a crucial part of the young core that is seen as both the present and the future for Tottenham.

And in spite of featuring in all but two of Tottenham’s Premier League matches, the English international has come under scrutiny on a few occasions. He has also been linked with the likes of Chelsea and Bayern Munich before the January window. But, those rumours have taken a backseat since.

Now, though, Manchester United have emerged as a potential destination for the player in the summer. The report states that the Red Devils have watched him on a number of occasions and that Mourinho was looking to move for the player in January itself, something which failed to transpire.

And, with Mourinho set to oversee a summer overhaul of the squad, the Portuguese is now eyeing a deal to bring the former Sporting Lisbon ace to Old Trafford. As per the report, Manchester United are preparing a £35 million offer in the summer to land the player.

However, Pochettino rubbished speculation Dier’s exit back in December and is likely to be firm on his stance of not letting go of any of his young mega stars. And, if they do decide to listen to offers, the Red Devils are likely to have competition as well.

It would be interesting to see how it all transpires in the summer but Manchester United look set to make an attempt for the player, at the very least.
