Paulo Dybala is set to sign a new deal with Juventus, his agent has confirmed.

Italian publication Calciomercato have reported that Paulo Dybala is all set to put to pen to paper on a new deal with Juventus, with his agent confirming that things are moving in the right direction to extend his stay in Turin.

The report states that negotiations for the new contract have been put on hold but there is no cause for concern for Juventus fans. That is because Dybala’s agent, Pierpaolo Triulzi, was returning to Argentina for the birth of his son, as he confirmed to the reporters, “We are on the right road, we hope to close soon.”

Triulzi’s comments will come as a relief for Juventus fans who have seen Dybala being heavily linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe in recent weeks. With Dybala being one being one of the most exciting young players in the world, it’s no surprise why.

Indeed, the 23-year-old has been instrumental in Juventus’ success ever since his €32 million to Turin from Palermo in 2015. Often compared to compatriot Lionel Messi, Dybala has made quite the impression with his nimble feet, creativity and superb technical abilities on the ball.

While not as prolific as his partner in attack, Gonzalo Higuain, Dybala has been a steady contributor in attack for Juventus this season, scoring 12 goals while providing six assists in 28 appearances in all competitions so far.

Needless to say, Dybala is one of the most sought after players in Europe, with several clubs eyeing him over the course of the season. Of these, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City have been the three most heavily linked outfits, with each of these sides reported to be looking for attacking reinforcements.

Recent reports have stated that Real Madrid have made attack their top priority for the summer, with Dybala being the number one target for Fiorentino Perez. With Karim Benzema looking unconvincing this season and Alvaro Morata looking for a way out of the club, Dybala represents as the perfect replacement to add bite to Los Blancos’ attack.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are also in the market for a forward, with Sergio Aguero’s situation at the Etihad Stadium being uncertain currently. The Citizens are long-time admirers of Dybala and had thus zeroed in on the Argentine to be his compatriot’s replacement in the summer.

However, fresh reports last month claimed that Barcelona had taken the lead in the race to sign Dybala, having signed a secret pact with Juventus that would see him being the long-term successor to their talisman Luis Suarez.

For now, though, it looks like Juventus are close to securing the future of Dybala with the report stating that the new deal will keep him in Turin until 2021 with a salary worth €7 million.

The deal will not contain a release clause but Juventus are expected to ask for a transfer fee in the region of €150 million to thwart the suitors. It now remains to be seen if any of the linked clubs indeed make a move for Dybala in the summer or are taken aback by the asking price.
