Paris Saint-Germain are willing to allow Marco Verratti to leave the club this summer for a fee above the £70 million mark, according to reports

According to Sport, Paris Saint-Germain’s public stance is that Marco Verratti will not leave the club but the the French side are willing to let the star midfielder leave as long as they receive a fee of above £70 million.

Sport claim that this is a result of Verratti himself wanting to move onto more difficult leagues and that both Barcelona and Real Madrid have been alerted to the possibility of signing him this summer.

The Italian international joined Paris Saint-Germain as a 19-year old from Pescara back in 2012 for a fee of around £10.3 million, a figure that looks like an absolute bargain given how well Verratti has developed in France.

He has grown one of their most influential players and one of the most complete midfielders around. This season, Verrati has scored 2 goals and picked up 6 assists in 28 appearances for the French side across all competitions.

Despite those relatively low numbers, PSG are heavily reliant on the Italian. Verratti is a hard-working midfielder who contributes immensely in both an attacking and defensive sense and is very adept at linking the defence with the attack.

This season, he is registering an average of 1.48 key passes, 1.70 chances created, 3.04 tackles won, 2.40 successful take-ons and a whopping 92.12 successful passes per 90 minutes in Ligue 1, according to Squawka.

Barcelona have been repeatedly linked with Verratti over the last couple of months and Verratti’s teammate Blaise Matuidi even claimed that Andres Iniesta admitted to him during PSG’d 4-0 rout of Barcelona that the Italian was his heir at the Camp Nou.

Verratti himself has conceded that he would not turn down a chance to play for the Spanish giants and given that Iniesta is already 32 and Barcelona are on the lookout for replacements, it seems likely that the Catalans are keeping a close eye on the PSG midfielder.

Sport also claim that Real Madrid are keeping tabs on the 24-year old and given that Los Blancos are reportedly ready to invest heavily this summer, it would not be surprising if a player of Verratti’s quality is on their list.

It appears that both Madrid and Barcelona could go head to head this summer if Sport are right and PSG are willing to sell the player.
