Phil Jones is the only absentee for Manchester United as Jose Mourinho’s side visits the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City on Sunday.

Leicester City host Manchester United at the King Power Stadium on Sunday in what will be the last match of Gameweek 24. The beleaguered champions have been absolutely dismal in the defence of the Premier League title they shockingly won only eight months ago.

So much so that they are perilously looking over their shoulders and are flirting with relegation, as they sit just a point outside the drop zone and only two ahead of bottom placed Sunderland.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are desperate for a win themselves as they look to take advantage of Arsenal and Liverpool dropping points on Saturday. Here’s the team news for Manchester United ahead of Sunday’s crucial encounter.

The report on the team new front is very positive indeed, with Jose Mourinho not having a lot of injury concerns on hands, with just a single senior player missing from his travelling squad to Leicester due to fitness issues.

Phil Jones misses out for Manchester United on Sunday, with the English centre-back out with a bruised foot that saw him being forced to be substituted in the Red Devils’ frustrating goalless draw against Hull City on Wednesday.

Jones subsequently said that the injury is not serious and that he expected to return in a few days, Mourinho said that he is unwilling to take an unnecessary risk on the England international. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Mourinho said: “Only Phil Jones is not in the condition to play.”

Jones’ absence from the squad on Sunday will not affect Mourinho’s plans heavily as the Manchester United boss has a couple of other options to fall back on in Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly. We may even see the Portuguese give Marcos Rojo a rest to start Smalling and Bailly in the heart of the Manchester United defence.

Meanwhile, Manchester United academy product is set to be involved in a first team squad for the first time. The 19-year-old has been recalled from his loan spell at Grimsby Town following an injury to third-choice goalkeeper Joel Pereira, and will now be travelling to Leicester on Sunday.

Other than these two updates, it is likely that Mourinho will start with the strongest possible lineup against the struggling champions on Sunday, with three points being so crucial in the chase for a Top 4 spot.
