Manchester United are looking to add a young striker to their ranks, and are considering a move for teenage Ajax striker Kasper Dolberg.

France and Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann remains United’s top transfer target, but the club want to invest in a younger striker as well and are monitoring Dolberg, according to Manchester Evening News.

The report states that the Premier League giants are looking to add a natural all-round striker to the squad. They are monitoring the Ajax striker with the intention of launching a move for the 19-year-old in the summer transfer window.

Dolberg has been enjoying a brilliant breakthrough season with Ajax, after joining from Danish club Silkeborg IF in the summer of 2015. The teenage sensation has made 22 appearances in the Eredivisie and Europa League combined, scoring ten goals and making three assists.

The Danish striker has also received a glowing recommendation from John Steen Olsen, the same scout who discovered two huge Scandinavian talents in Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Christian Eriksen.

“Kasper is an extraordinary talent,” said Olsen.

“I knew he would be a perfect player for Ajax. Kasper has exceptional qualities: speed, technique, intelligent play and good in the air.”

The report adds that Manchester United have also been scouting Genk winger Leon Bailey. However, the teenage Jamaican has stated that he would only move to United if he is guaranteed playing minutes, which looks very difficult.

The Red Devils already have a strikeforce that can boast of two of the biggest young talents around in Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, not to mention the seemingly eternal Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Despite this, a young striker is believed to be a top transfer priority for manager Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese manager was reportedly desperate to sign Swiss striker Breel Embolo this past summer, but he ended up joining Bundesliga club Schalke instead. United then turned their attention to Leon Bailey at Genk, and after some hiccups in that pursuit, have now locked on to Ajax star Kasper Dolberg.

Manchester United aren’t the only Premier League looking to snap up Dolberg though, with rivals Manchester City and Chelsea also reportedly keeping a tab on him.

In the end it may just come down to a bidding war for the youngster, and Manchester United will probably not be willing to spend too much on an addition to an area where they are already quite strong.
