Liverpool are reportedly set to launch a €10 million bid in order to land highly-rated Juventus teenager Francesco Cassata.

Renowned football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that Liverpool are interested in highly-rated Juventus teenager Francesco Cassata. The 19-year-old is currently on loan to Serie B outfit Ascoli and it looks like his displays have caught the attention of Jurgen Klopp, who is aiming to bring the player over to Anfield.

Francesco Cassata joined Juventus’ Under-19 side in the winter transfer window of 2015 in a €1.5 million deal, after coming through the ranks at fellow Serie A side Empoli. The Italian Under-20 international has been loaned to Ascoli on a season-long deal, that includes a buy option with an eventual buy-back option for Juventus (source: transfermarkt).

Cassata has been a regular face in the first eleven for Ascoli with 19 Serie B appearances for the side out of a possible 21. The player has recorded a decent return of 1 goal and 2 assists. But, statistics aside, it is his calming presence in the midfield that has impressed the on-lookers.

Cassata’s versatility is a wealthy attribute that adds more value to his ability. The player has been deployed predominantly in the central midfield position at Ascoli, but has put in occasional shifts at several other positions, featuring all across the midfield, even as a winger and a wide midfielder.

The 19-year-old is highly rated in Italy and his performances at Ascoli has seen a rise in his stocks. Juventus are unlikely to part with the player so easily. However, it also remains to be seen whether Ascoli will be willing to exercise their right to buy the player on a permanent basis and whether the player will agree a permanent move to the mid-table Serie B side.

Jurgen Klopp has a lot of budding youngsters coming through the ranks at Anfield and has shown a lot of faith in youth at Liverpool. The German also claimed earlier that Anfield is the perfect place for promising youngsters to develop and could be set to add another starlet to his ranks.

The player’s Juventus deal is set to expire in 2018 and with only 1 and a half years left on his current contract, a €10 million fee for the player sounds fair for both the parties involved. Whether the deal will happen or not remains to be seen.
