Manchester United are reportedly offering Antoine Griezmann wages in the same level as Paul Pogba if the Frenchman decides to leave Atletico Madrid for the Red Devils.

The Sun have sensationally claimed that Manchester United are pulling out all stops to sign Atletico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann.

The report states that the Red Devils have promised Griezmann and his camp a pay package of £220,000 per-week, which will place him in the same bracket as his compatriot, Paul Pogba, if and when the striker agrees a move to Old Trafford.

Antoine Griezmann has become one of the top 3 superstars in Europe, producing consistently brilliant numbers in the similar fold as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Such has been the rise of Griezmann that the Frenchman is now being talked in the same breath as the aforementioned world-class players.

The Frenchman won the Golden Boot in the European Championships before the start of the 2016-17 season and has continued his impressive prolific run for Los Rojiblancos as well. The 25-year-old has already entered double figures for the current season, with 10 goals in all competitions.

The striker is not only a finisher but a creator as well, with 6 assists in the course of scoring those 10 goals. And, the player has been linked heavily with a move to Manchester United in the recent past, with the Red Devils hierarchy and Jose Mourinho earmarking the 25-year-old as the perfect man to replace Wayne Rooney.

And, as per Sun’s report, Manchester United are prepared to make Griezmann the joint-highest paid player on the Red Devils roster, alongside his international teammate and friend, Paul Pogba. Griezmann has been promised an identical contract to Pogba’s, with similar wages, bonuses and other clauses.

To give a hint of what Griezmann could pocket apart from the £220,000 per-week basic wage, Paul Pogba’s contract also includes image rights and bonuses over and above the basic pay. Also, Pogba is set to pocket a tax-free £5 million loyalty bonus upon completion of five years at Old Trafford.

United look set for a summer charge for Griezmann. But, Atletico Madrid are unlikely to budge, which means the Red Devils would have to trigger the 25-year-old’s £89 million release clause, something United will not have a problem splashing if Griezmann hints at being willing to join the Mourinho project at Old Trafford.
