Real Madrid are reportedly set to face competition from the likes of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain in pursuit of Napoli star Faouzi Ghoulam.

Spanish publication AS have claimed that Real Madrid are interested in bringing Napoli Star Faouzi Ghoulam over to Santiago Bernabeu. They state that, as per reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the likes of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are set to provide competition to Los Blancos in pursuit of the Algerian.

Faouzi Ghoulam arrived at Napoli from AS Saint-Etienne in January 2014 for a fee of €5 million and has since grown into one of the most enterprising left-backs in the footballing world. The player, however, is not limited to the left-back role and is equally adept at being deployed as a left midfielder and as a left winger as well.

The 25-year-old has featured in 15 of Napoli’s 18 Serie A games while playing a key role in all of their Champions League fixtures this season. He has a decent return as well, with 3 assists in each of the aforementioned competitions.

Fabio Coentrao’s departure looks almost certain and Zinedine Zidane is looking to bring in Ghoulam in order to strengthen the defence as Los Blancos aim to maintain their position as La Liga’s table-toppers right till the end, and regain the Spanish crown.

Paris Saint-Germain is also an interested party and their interest can be chalked down to the fact that the whole roster has failed to light up the Ligue 1 this season. The defending champions, however, do have Layvin Kurzawa in their ranks, a player almost identical in terms of playing style and skill-set when compared to Ghoulam.

Paris Saint Germain have already secured Julian Draxler and could be set for more additions in the coming days. But their interest in Ghoulam is unlikely to be converted into a real offer.

Real Madrid are set to face competition from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich for the 25-year-old. The report says that the Bavarians are hoping to trump Los Blancos to Ghoulam with a bumper four-year contract for the player with a pay of around €3 million per annum.

His current deal is set to expire in 2018 and it seems that two of the biggest names in European and world football are ready to battle each other to land the 25-year-old.

The prospect of playing at historic places like the Allianz Arena or the Santiago Bernabeu may interest Ghoulam and with the suitors having no dearth of cash, Napoli might just let the player go in return of an exorbitant fee, as they have done in previous cases like Gonzalo Higuain, Javier Pastore and Edinson Cavani.
