Dele Alli has branded stories linking him with a move away from Tottenham as “just rumours”, and has insisted he is happy with life at White Hart Lane

Reports emerged last week linking the Tottenham midfielder with a huge £50m move to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

The 20-year-old joined the London club from MK Dons only last year, and was an instant success. Alli’s performances last season earned him universal praise and the Englishman also picked up the PFA Young Player of the Year award at the end of the season.  Alli was also called up to the England squad for England’s final two UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying matches last October.

Alli notched 10 goals and picked up 5 assists last season and featured in 33 games – an impressive amount for someone who was playing their first season in the top tier of English football. His performances clearly caught the eye of clubs all over the world and it is no surprise that he was linked with the likes of PSG last week.

However, Alli has now moved to rubbish any links away from Tottenham :

“It’s all just rumours to be honest with you,” he said to Sky Sports

“I have just signed a new contract with Tottenham, I am happy here. I couldn’t think of a better place to be at my age. It has been a great year for me, I have had a lot of success in my career so far but I have got to keep improving, keep getting better, and make sure 2017 is even better.”

Things have not gone to plan this season, though. Alli has made 18 appearances for Spurs this season – 2 of which have come as a substitute – and picked up 4 goals and 1 assist in those games. While those numbers are nothing to scoff at considering his age, Alli’s performances have not matched those that he put in last year.

Alli also put in some abject performances in Europe as Tottenham crashed out of the Champions League in embarrassing fashion. Spurs have not performed in the league as well as they have last year either and have not been able to climb out of 5th place in the last 7 weeks.

However, Alli’s talent is there for all to see and this was one of the reasons he was reportedly scouted by Real Madrid at the back-end of last season.

It is very unlikely that Spurs will agree to part with the midfielder even next season. And, if Alli’s comments are anything to go by it, appears he is uninterested in a transfer for the foreseeable future.
