Chelsea are reportedly plotting a sensational swoop for Arsenal contract rebel and in-form superstar Alexis Sanchez.
Daily Mirror are claiming that Chelsea are showing interest in Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez. The player, who seems to be in a dispute with the club over the terms of his new deal, has already attracted interest from Italy and China, with Stamford Bridge now emerging as a shock potential destination.
Sanchez has been on fire ever since he switched La Liga giants Barcelona for Premier League heavyweights Arsenal. The Chilean and his partner-in-crime, Mesut Ozil, have been influential in almost every victory for the Gunners in the recent past.
Arsene Wenger’s decision to deploy Alexis Sanchez as a lone centre-forward seems to have turned out to be a masterstroke, with the 28-year-old in line to post the best season numbers of his career. He already has 11 Premier League goals and 4 assists with more than half of the season to go, a stellar return with a goal scored or created in less than every 90 minutes on average.
Sanchez’ current deal is set to expire in 2018 and the Chilean will have only 1 year remaining at the end of the current campaign. Arsenal have opened contract talks with the forward, who currently warns £130,000 per-week, but he is holding out for better terms in line with other Premier League superstars like Sergio Aguero and Paul Pogba.
The former Barcelona man has been linked with moves to Italy and China, with reports emerging that Chinese Super League clubs are ready to offer Alexis wages to the tune of £400,000 per-week in order to lure him to China. But it is thought that the player’s agent is looking to use the Chinese Super League offer to get his client a better deal in Europe itself.
Sanchez’ camp has reportedly told Arsenal that the terms of the deal are non-negotiable. With Arsenal pushed against the wall, Chelsea are ready to pounce on the opportunity and complete a shock swoop for the 28-year-old.
It is thought that Conte desires to partner Alexis Sanchez with Diego Costa up-front and a potential triple threat of Hazard, Sanchez and Costa is not only a mouth-watering prospect for the Blues faithful, but could turn into one of the most potent attacking trios in the footballing world.
It is still uncertain as to how the rest of the saga will unfold, with talks still ongoing with Arsenal over an improved contract. But with Chelsea joining the race, Arsenal’s hierarchy will be fuming over the possibility of losing their attacking supremo to their London rivals. This may drive them to break their bank and their wage structure in order to keep hold of their prized asset.
One thing is certain though, a move to Chelsea would present an opportunity for Sanchez to stay in Europe and vie for the top honours of the footballing world, as well as nab a handsome pay-raise.
