Chelsea are reportedly planning to open talks with Victor Moses over a new, improved contract amidst interest from Barcelona.

Sky Sports have claimed that, as per their sources, Chelsea are set to open talks with Victor Moses over the possibility of a new and improved deal for the Nigerian international. Moses has been drawing interest from Spanish heavyweights Barcelona and it seems like Chelsea are prepared to put an end to the speculation by offering the in-form player a new deal at the club.

Victor Moses arrived at Chelsea after impressing during his time at Crystal Palace and Wigan Athletic. But the player was constantly loaned out to other clubs instead of being a part of the first-team setup at Stamford Bridge. Moses spent three seasons on loan at Liverpool, Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion for the entirety of 2013-14, 2014-15 and the 2015-16 campaign respectively.

Antonio Conte’s arrival at Chelsea seem to have not changed much until the time the Italian chose to deploy a 3-man defensive formation with wingbacks. Conte gave Victor Moses a chance at the right wing-back position and there has been no looking back for the Nigerian ever since.

The 25-year-old has since established himself in the starting eleven and made the wing-back spot his own. The player shined again over the weekend as he scored the winner in the London Derby to help Chelsea come back from a goal down against Tottenham to snatch all three points by a scoreline of 2-1.

Barcelona have been sensationally linked with a move for the player, who the Catalans rate as one of the best right-back options in Europe at the present moment, as per the reports, and even sent scouts to monitor the player. Even though it is just a rumour, it has seen Chelsea supremo Michael Emenalo spring into action. The Technical Director at Chelsea is desperate to tie Moses down to a long-term deal alleviating fears of the Nigerian wanting to join some other club.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia, who handles all contract negotiations, is expected to begin talks with the player and his representatives to work out a deal in the coming weeks. Well, it seems like Moses is finally receiving some applause and recognition at Chelsea after years of getting left out and loaned out of the first-team setup at Stamford Bridge.

Looks like Moses is finally becoming a Victor.
