Liverpool are riding high on the wave of their success this season, but manager Jurgen Klopp has issued a warning to his players to not get complacent.

Jurgen Klopp looks like the manager who will finally bring Premier League success to Anfield. However, the former Dortmund boss has issued a warning to his players to not get ahead of themselves this early in the season.

“If somebody is a character and wants to celebrate position one in November then he will not play in December anymore because I see it pretty quick,” said Klopp according to the Liverpool Echo.

However, Klopp is confident that his players do not have a propensity for complacency and that he has assembled a team of individuals with good character and a history of success.

“They had successes of being the best player at Southampton, Schalke or other teams,” said the German. “This is success but if you then celebrate this and don’t be professional anymore then you have a problem.

“It is not too difficult. Nothing has happened until now.”

Such has been the dominance of the Reds this season that the draw against Southampton at St.Mary’s on Saturday was considered a poor result.

Liverpool kicked their season off with a 4-3 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. They have carried on in similar fashion since, barring the shock 2-0 loss to Burnley. The Reds were top of the table until this week, when they were dethroned by Chelsea.

Klopp’s men remain just a point behind the Blues though, and look like they are ready to go the full distance this season. Even old foe and legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that Liverpool are looking like genuine title contenders.

Jurgen Klopp has constantly dismissed talks of the Reds being favourites to win the title. The former Dortmund manager isn’t one to get ahead of himself, but it is looking increasingly possible that he could guide Liverpool to their first ever title in the Premier League era.
