Former PSG manager Laurent Blanc is reportedly stalling negotiations with Inter Milan in hopes of a possible approach by Manchester United in the near future.

Various media outlets had, earlier, reported of an approach by the hierarchy at Inter Milan to former Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc, to take over the reins from current manager Frank De Boer, who has struggled to bring about positive results for the Nerazzurri.

However, reports have emerged that Blanc, even though interested in resuming his managerial duties, has kept the Inter Milan approach on hold as he reflects on his options and future goals. And now, French publication Le Parisien are sensationally claiming that the reason for the Frenchman’s stalling of the Inter Milan approach is that Blanc is interested in the job at Manchester United.

The Old Trafford job is still not reported be under any threat but there have been echoes of unhappiness ringing around the stadium and the club. The club’s disappointing performances of late, coupled with Mourinho’s self-admitted struggles to adapt to life in the city without his family, are ominous signs of an impending job vacancy at Blanc’s former club and his last one as a player.

Blanc’s managerial CV consists of just three stints with a largely underwhelming performance as the manager of French National Team separating two successful jobs in Ligue 1 with Bordeaux and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Frenchman, who also played for Barcelona, managed to win the domestic league title and both the domestic cups at each of the clubs but, the Ligue 1 conquest at Bordeaux is regarded as a true testament to his managerial ability.

Blanc had a more than decent record at Paris Saint-Germain before parting with the club with an overall win ratio of above 70% and has come to be known as one of the finest managers without a current job in Europe at the present moment.

Manchester United have seen failed attempts from David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal to carry on Sir Alex Ferguson’s legacy and Jose Mourinhos’ managerial career has not had the most appealing of starts up until now.

In such a time, it is thought that a manager who also has experience of playing for the club and that too under Sir Alex Ferguson, is likely to be well aware of the demands and the traits required to achieve success at the club, could be the one to finally restore the Red Devils’ stature.

Blanc, like others, looks to be predicting an abrupt end to Mourinho’s United career, which is why he is willing to entertain the possibility of letting the managerial post at a club like Inter Milan go in favour of hopes, albeit only a glimmer, of a possibility of returning to the place where he ended his playing career, as a manager.
