Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey have failed to recuperate from their injuries, and will be ruled out of Saturday’s game against Swansea.

After a shaky first few games at the start of the 2016/17 season, things are going well for Arsenal. They welcomed a number of players back from injury and their signings adapted well.

Sitting in a comfortable third place on the table, the Gunners could see themselves move up the standings. They would, however, have to rely on results elsewhere to go their way, but Wenger will want nothing less than a win for his Arsenal side.

He will continue to miss the services of of Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey. The former is struggling to regain match fitness while the latter is recovering from a hamstring problem.

Wenger has received a fitness boost in the form of Francis Coquelin, but he is unlikely to start the Frenchman. The midfield pivot of Granit Xhaka and Santi Cazorla have reaped high rewards this season, and the Arsenal boss is unlikely to tweak his winning formula.

After the international break, Arsenal have been fortunate not to see any players pick up knocks playing for their countries. The likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi were all in action, and are likely to start on Saturday.

Petr Cech is set to continue in goal with a back four of Hector Bellerin, Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi and Nacho Monreal ahead of him.

Theo Walcott and Alex Iwobi have been impressive in wide positions this season and are likely to join Ozil and Sanchez in the Gunners attack.
