Premier League veterans Petr Cech and Gareth Barry were honored by the prestigious Guinness Book of Records in their recently released 2017 edition.
The Arsenal goalkeeper was presented with not one but two plaques by the publication – One for keeping the highest number of clean sheets in Premier League and the other one for winning the Golden glove with two separate teams. The former Chelsea man broke the long standing record of 169 clean sheets in the Premier League held by David James in December, 2015 against Bournemouth in a 2-0 victory for the Gunners.
Petr Cech’s current record stands at 181 clean sheets, with two and half years still left on his Arsenal contract. Another record held by the 34 year old ‘keeper which helped him enter the Guinness again was achieving Golden gloves with two different clubs, having done so with Chelsea (2004–05, 2009–10, 2013–14) and Arsenal (2015-2016).

Gareth Barry broke the record of most number of starts (572) by a player in Premier League history in May, 2016 breaking the record held by David James (again). As of today, Gareth Barry has made 602 appearances in the Premier League, including an amazing 580 starts, a testament of the wonderful career the midfielder has had for Aston Villa, Manchester City and Everton.

There were also mentions for Leicester City and Cristiano Ronaldo in the 2017 Guinness edition, Leicester featured for their incredible rise of 13 places in consecutive seasons – from 13th in 2014-15 to 1st in 2015-16, a Premier League high.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo was rewarded for being the most followed athlete on social networking site Twitter, with over a mind-boggling 47 million followers at the time of writing.
