Barcelona superstar Neymar has confirmed he held talks with PSG and other clubs in the summer before signing a new deal with the Blaugranes.

Neymar’s agent, Wagner Ribeiro, revealed earlier in the week that the Brazilian superstar had held talks with Paris Saint-Germain during the summer, before agreeing to a new deal with Barcelona and in the aftermath of a 7-0 win for Barcelona against Celtic, Neymar confirmed his agent’s claims in a press conference on Thursday.

Neymar said,“ Yes, we had discussions with many people, not just one [with PSG]. I was in talks with many teams, [PSG] wasn’t the only one.”

Wagner Ribeiro had revealed that the French champions had made an outrageous offer to the Olympics gold medalist. The player’s agent had said that PSG offered Neymar post-tax wages of around €650,000 per-week with a private jet available at his disposal along with a stake in a chain of hotels carrying the superstar’s name as a part of the offer.

Neymar, though, chose not to comment on the delicate details surrounding the talks as he said, “ “I can’t confirm the numbers given by Wagner Ribeiro because I don’t like talking about figures.”

Neymar did end up agreeing to a new contract with Barcelona that runs till 2021 and told reporters that he cannot see himself at any other club and that he is really happy at Nou Camp.

“I decided to stay at Barca because I feel at home here. I’m happy with my teammates and I’m [a] Barca man. I don’t see myself away from Barcelona. It’s something I can’t imagine. I feel important, like everyone in the team,” Neymar told the reporters, as quoted by ESPN.

As Neymar revealed earlier, not only Paris Saint-Germain, but also Manchester United and arch-rivals Real Madrid were also rumoured to have held talks of a possible transfer involving the player.

The Barcelona faithful, though, are unlikely to be worried by the interest of European elites after Neymar’s comments as the La Liga champions look set to retain the Brazilian superstar for quite a few years to come.
