Arsenal are looking to extend the contracts of their two most influential attackers Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in the near future.

According to ESPN sources, Arsenal are hurrying to tie up new deals for German playmaker Mesut Ozil and Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez. The report states that the North Londoners have been in talks with the duo over new long-term deals, with both of their contracts set to expire in 2018.

Mesut Ozil is said to be enjoying his life in London as he appears to have settled well at the club following his arrival from Real Madrid. The player is reportedly open to a new deal and it is likely that the club will not face much hassle in renewing the German international’s contract.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are worried about the situation surrounding Alexis Sanchez, as the Chilean has reportedly not only requested for a pay-rise, but is rumoured to have asked the club to include a buy-out clause in his new deal.

Daily Mail have reported that Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are currently on £140,000 per-week and £130,000 per-week and that Arsenal are prepared to increase their weekly remuneration. It is believed Arsenal are uncomfortable with including a buy-out clause in Sanchez’s contract, as it means that Arsenal could potentially be rendered powerless if a club was to swoop in and bid an amount equal to the buy-out clause.

Both players are immensely important for Arsenal as the duo combined to produce a return of 19 goals and 23 assists between them in the Premier League last season, while they already have 2 goals and 1 assist between them in the league this season.

As such, extending the contracts of the duo appears to be Arsenal’s top priority, with Arsene Wenger pushing for renewals to be completed as quickly as possible.
