The Ligue 1 giants have made their fifth signing of the summer under new manager Unai Emery, snapping up the promising young Real Madrid forward for €25 million.

Former Sevilla manager Unai Emery is hoping to bring European success to PSG this season and has gone about his transfer market business with a vengeance. After signing the likes of Hatem Ben Arfa, Grzegorz Krychowiak, Thomas Meunier and Giovani Lo Celso, the Parisians have now signed 23-year-old striker Jese from Real Madrid on a five-year deal.

“I am delighted to join Paris Saint-Germain, who have become one of Europe’s most competitive clubs,” declared Jesé after signing his contract on Monday, according to the official club website.

“Like Paris Saint-Germain, I have big ambitions for the coming seasons and it will be a great pleasure to work under the direction of Unai Emery, who has developed an excellent reputation in Spain, and across Europe, for his quality as a coach. I can’t wait to begin this next challenge of my career.”

Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool were also reportedly interested in the young Spaniard.

Jese has been at Real Madrid since he was 14 years old, coming through the youth system and playing for Real Madrid Castilla before breaking into the first team in 2013. He scored 8 goals in 31 appearances that season, and has been playing second fiddle to Karim Benzema.

The Spaniard’s chances of first team action have dwindled further this summer after Real signed another former youth player Alvaro Morata from Juventus. The club has since made it clear that they don’t intend to sell Morata to interested Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal.

Jese is highly rated, with many pundits believing he has a bright future ahead of him. The move from Spain to France could be hugely beneficial to his career. PSG have just lost star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and are thin in the attacking department, with Edinson Cavani also failing to find reliable form. Jese could forge his way into the first team this season and live up to his potential in Ligue 1.
