PSG seem hot on the trail of Wolfsburg star Julian Draxler. The player has put a transfer request and voiced his desire to leave the club despite having four years left on a contract that he signed only last year.

Julian Draxler seems to the subject of yet another transfer saga, the second time in two years. Last year, the German international was the focus of Juventus’ interest. After the Old Lady failed to reach an agreement with Schalke, Draxler signed with Wolfsburg for a fee of £35m.

Interested clubs

Gianluca Di Marzio have reported that Unai Emery and PSG are interested in securing a move for the 22-year-old winger who has impressed in the Champions League as well as the Euros this summer. But Wolfsburg have denied their request for a loan move.

Emery’s old club Sevilla are also interested, along with Arsenal, in the former Schalke man. But according to reports, Juve have informed Wolfsburg officials that they have no plans to approach Draxler for a transfer. Earlier this month, Draxler had expressed regret over Juve’s failure to sign him last season.

The Situation

The talented winger has a release clause which is close to £63m and it looks likely that the club interested in securing his services will have to pay the full amount. Arsene Wenger is an ardent admirer of the German star and would love to pair him up with Ozil.

Draxler has soured his relationship with coach Dieter Hecking and director of sport Klaus Allofs who have repeatedly denied the fact that the player is available on the market.

“Before committing yourself publicly, one should speak to me first,” Draxler, who has made 24 appearances for Germany, fumed to daily newspaper Bild.

“As far as I am concerned, I expressed myself clearly after (last month’s) European championships to coach Dieter Hecking that I want to leave VfL Wolfsburg.

“The coach has known that for three weeks.” (via TalkSport)

According to Radio Monte Carlo, PSG are working to bring Draxler to the French capital but deem the quoted figure too high. The player’s desire to leave in these cases are all important as we have seen in the past with deals involving Arturo Vidal and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Draxler had been assured by the club’s officials when he joined that his wishes will be respected. There is still a considerable amount of time left on the market and it remains to be seen which turn this saga takes.
