Manchester United are reportedly in pole position to secure the services of former Feyenoord wonderkid Liandro Martis.

The Sun, in their Monday edition, have reported that Manchester United have taken 20-year-old Curacao international Liandro Martis on trial at the club. The report adds that the winger had been to trials at Oldham and Leicester City, getting offers for a permanent deal from both clubs. Martis, however, decided to wait for the right offer and it seems to have paid off. The Sun added that the former Feyenoord youngster impressed the United scouts while on trial with Oldham and was training with United’s under-23 squad under Warren Joyce last week.

Martis’ agent confirmed, through his twitter account, that his client was indeed handed a trial by the Red Devils.

The 20-year-old has reportedly been spotted outside Carrington training ground and seemed rather confident in his abilities as he talked to the media as he narrated his journey in the past month.

“I am confident in my ability. I’ve played a number of games to obtain fitness and have done well. I played against League Two Crewe and scored and laid on an assist and then played in a game with Tranmere where I help set up a number of goals, before I went Oldham and scored against a championship Preston,” said Martis.

The player also confirmed the rumours of contracts being offered by Premier League champions Leicester City and English club Oldham.

“I went into Leicester for a day and felt comfortable and got an offer. Oldham have offered me a deal and we have been in negotiations for two weeks.”

The Curacao international admitted that he is close to making a decision and revealed his eagerness to start his professional career.

“I am nearing a decision on my future and I want to make the right decision for the next stage of my career.”

Liandro Martis also revealed he got positive feedback from Warren Joyce during his time with United’s U-23 squad and added that he could’ve secured a contract with the Red Devils, had he stayed a little longer. It seems Manchester United have now recognised the former Feyenoord man’s talent and have offered him a trial at the club. The Sun put Jose Mourinho’s employers in pole position to secure the talented youngster’s signature.

Here is a piece of skill from the Curacao international that is sure to excite the United faithfuls as the 20-year-old gears up to play at Old Trafford.
