Jose Mourinho has reportedly told Juan Mata that he has a future at Manchester United provided the Spaniard accepts his new role.

Juan Mata has had a troubled past with Jose Mourinho as the Portuguese turned the two-time Player of the Year from a fan-favourite to an outcast during their time together at Chelsea. Mata suffered a horrifying period under the Portuguese that culminated in the playmaker being sold to Manchester United in the January window of the 2013-14 season.

The Spaniard has been in good form throughout his two and half years at Manchester United and scored the Red Devils’ opening goal in a 2-1 comeback win against Crystal Palace in the final. The 28-year old has quickly become a fan favourite among the United fans but the midfielder was reportedly on the way out of Old Trafford after the appointment of Jose Mourinho.

Mata is currently on tour with the rest of the United squad in China and wants to stay and fight for his place in the team. Fresh reports from The Sun have claimed that Jose Mourinho has told Mata that the Spaniard will have a role to play under the Portuguese and has provided reassurance that their troubled past will not have an effect on the midfielder’s future at Old Trafford.

Mourinho has however warned Mata that he must accept his new role in the Manchester United first-team squad and be a part of the Portuguese’s squad rotation policy. He also reportedly told Mata that he shall play, on an average, one game in three and that he must accept his place as a squad player.

James Wilson set for loan move to Fulham

James Wilson has fallen down the pecking order behind the likes of Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial, new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the newest English teen sensation, Marcus Rashford. The Manchester United academy product is currently a part of the first-team’s pre-season training and featured in a recent 2-0 friendly win over Wigan playing the first 45 minutes of the game.

However, The Sun claims the 20-year old will be joining Slavisa Jokanovic’s Fulham side on a season-long loan to bolster their attack for the coming season. Wilson had scorched his way into the heart of many United fans with a double on his Premier League debut in a 3-1 win over Hull City at the end of the 2014-15 season but has since failed to sustain his form.

The striker spent last season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion during which he nearly achieved promotion with the club and scored 5 league goals in the Championship for the side. The youngster will now be looking forward to his time at Craven Cottage as a means to develop himself and hone his skills to impress Mourinho enough for a first-team place in the future.

The report states that this move will mark the beginning of Manchester United’s rehaul as more and more players who are on the fringes are likely to be moved off the books at Old Trafford.
