Since returning to Sassuolo from Juventus last summer, Domenico Berardi has established himself as one of the brightest young prospects in Europe attracting the interest of various clubs across the continent. However, Inter Milan are eyeing a move for the 21-year-old this summer and are looking to beat the likes of Juventus and Tottenham to the forward.

Sassuolo only arrived in the Serie A in 2013 and after narrowly surviving relegation in their first season in the top-flight, the Neroverdi have rocketed up the pecking order in Italian football subsequently finishing in 6th spot last season and securing European football for the 2016-17 campaign. Among the players that were at the epicenter of Sassuolo’s rise to prominence was Domenico Berardi, a 21-year-old winger who grew up the ranks of the Modena-based club. He made a switch to Juventus in 2013 only to be sent back home on a two-year loan to get more game time. The Italy U-21 international made the switch permanent last summer with Sassuolo keen on securing the services of their forward. One impressive season later, Inter Milan have now entered a race to sign the winger this summer amidst growing interest for the youngster.

Football Italia report that the Nerazzurri have expressed their interest in signing Berardi, however they aren’t allowed to go through with a transfer till the proposed take-over of the club by Suning Group is complete. Roberto Mancini is keen on this transfer to go through in the future and with Sassuolo reportedly interested in signing Andrea Ranocchia, the 2010 Champions League winners could include Berardi in a swap deal.

Juventus are also in the mix to re-sign Berardi, with the 21-year-old having never featured in Bianconeri colours during his earlier move. However, the Serie A champions haven’t made a committed move yet towards signing the striker with the availability of Paulo Dybala, Alvaro Morata and Mario Mandzukic in their ranks.  A self-confessed Inter Milan fan, Berardi will be excited with the prospect of making the move to Inter Milan.

Sassuolo vs AC Milan

With Premier League campaigners, Tottenham Hotspur also in the scheme of things to sign the £20 million rated Italian, Inter will have to beat sides with Champions’ League football on offer if they are to have any shot at bringing Berardi to the San Siro.

A battle between Juventus and Inter Milan to sign Berardi?

Alvaro Morata is being heavily linked to a move away from Turin this summer and the Spanish forward has stated he’d like to decide his future after returning from the Euros. With the potential departure of the Spanish forward, the return of Juan Cuadrado to Chelsea and Coman to Bayern Munich, Juventus need more options up front along with Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri who continued their dismal run in the Serie A last season, need quality up-front to wage a serious challenge for the Top 3 spots in the next campaign. Signing Berardi could just be the statement of intent towards achieving their objectives. However, with no Champions League football on offer, Inter are at a disadvantage over Juventus to sign the 21 year old sensation.
