Real Madrid, who are said to be chasing the signature of Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, may have to let their German star Toni Kroos go in order to bring the Frenchman to the Santiago Bernabeu, according to reports from Spain.

Pogba has been one of the best midfielders in the world ever since he joined Juventus from Manchester United on a free transfer. He has gone on to further his reputation in Turin, winning four consecutive Serie A titles with Juventus.

The 23-year-old has been on the radar of a number of top European clubs for a possible summer move, but Real Madrid have emerged as one of the favourites to sign Pogba.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has also been full of praises for Pogba in recent times. He was quoted as saying in Spanish newspaper Marca, “Everyone wants Pogba because he is a great talent, but he is a Juventus player.”

Juventus are said to be keen to hold on to their star player. In fact, the Bianconeri are not prepared to listen to any offers for Pogba that are below the £78 million mark. Real Madrid, though, are said to be willing to pay as much as £94 million, in order to bring Pogba to the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, according to a report in Marca, Juventus have told Real Madrid that they will not listen to offers for Pogba unless the Los Blancos are prepared to send Kroos the other way, in a swap deal.

Double blow for Manchester United?

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho sacked

Newly appointed Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been handed a massive £200 million war chest (via Daily Mirror), in order to overhaul the current squad, and get the Red Devils back into the Champions League.

One area that Mourinho clearly needs to improve is the midfield. The likes of Juan Mata, Bastian Schweinsteiger, and Marouane Fellaini have failed to impress last season, and might be on their way out. Armed with a massive budget, Mourinho is said to be looking to bring Pogba back to the Old Trafford, according to The Sun. The Red Devils have also been linked with a £30 million move for Real Madrid’s Kroos, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Hence the news about the possible swap deal between Juventus and Real Madrid for Pogba and Kroos could end up being a huge blow in Mourinho’s bid to revamp the Manchester United midfield.
