Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks, and the big Swede has claimed that an announcement regarding his future will be made on Tuesday.
Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has never been one to shy away from playing mind games with fans and blowing his own trumpet. However, the constant speculation surrounding his plans for the future may finally come to an end on Tuesday.
Following Sweden’s 3-0 win over Wales in their Euro 2016 warm-up friendly, Ibrahimovic hinted that his next destination would be made official on Tuesday, with the former Inter Milan striker expected to reunite with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
“There will be a big announcement on June 7. It will be this summer’s big bomb,” said the 34-year-old striker, according to the Independent. “It feels good, feels better than good. A lot will happen with this news, so hopefully you’ll all enjoy.”
Ibrahimovic has reportedly signed a one-year contract with the Red Devils, but there has been no official confirmation from the club as yet. In what would be a major disappointment for the Manchester United faithful, there is a possibility that his ‘big announcement’ could be the unveiling of a new clothing line that is scheduled for Tuesday.
Zlatan arrival would lead to a displaced Rashford
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is arriving at Old Trafford in the best form of his life, having scored more than 50 goals for PSG in all competitions this past season. Given his undeniable quality, he would slot straight into the first team and take up his favoured position as the spearhead of the attack.
This would oust teenage sensation Marcus Rashford from the starting lineup. Rashford could well settle into a supporting role on the left flank as Anthony Martial has done for Wayne Rooney on occasion, or he could even be loaned out given his tender years. It is now up to new manager Jose Mourinho to discover how to make the best use of the talent at his disposal.
