UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid likely to bid for Juventus star Paul Pogba.

Pogba is regarded as one of the best midfielders of the modern era. He has won four back-to-back Serie A titles with Juventus after moving to the Italian side on a free transfer from Manchester United.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to a number of clubs, with the likes of Barcelona, Chelsea, and Manchester City all showing interest in him. It now seems like Real Madrid might have also joined the chase for the France international.

“[Paul Pogba] is a great player. Is he a player for Real Madrid? He’s a player for every team, but at this moment he’s a Juventus player and we have to respect that,” Zidane, who was in Turin, was quoted as saying in Marca.

Juve wants to keep Morata

Inter vs Juventus

Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for Juventus’s Alvaro Morata over the course of the season. Morata, who had made a €20 million switch from the Spanish capital to Turin, is reportedly unhappy at playing second fiddle to the likes of Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala, and is looking for a way out of the club.

However, when asked about the prospects of the Spanish striker returning to the Santiago Bernabeu, Zidane cast a shadow of doubt over the possible move despite Real Madrid having a €30 million buy back clause. According to Zidane, the Bianconeri want to keep the striker for at least another year.

“[Alvaro Morata] has grown a lot in Italy, where he’s played hard and well,” said Zidane. “He did very well at Juventus and they’d like keep him for at least another year, so we’ll see what happens in the summer. It’s not yet the time to talk about it.”

Will Pogba carry forward Zidane’s legacy?

Real Madrid press conferenceZidane is regarded as one of the best playmakers to have graced the beautiful game, winning the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 with France. Zidane later went on to win the La Liga and the Champions League with Real Madrid, after completing a record breaking €73.5 million move from Juventus.

If Real Madrid are to sign France international Pogba, they might also need to set a new transfer record, with the 23-year-old’s release clause said to be set around €125 million. However, with eight goals and 12 assists from 33 Serie A matches, Pogba has certainly proved that he is worth every bit of that penny. With Real Madrid looking like they are interested in signing the Frenchman, Pogba could indeed become the next Zizou at the Santiago Bernabeu.
