The Manchester United youngster has earned a new long-term deal thanks to his performances for the Red Devils in the second half of the recently concluded Premier League season.

Marcus Rashford has enjoyed a remarkable few months after being handed his debut in the Europa League by Louis van Gaal due to an injury to Anthony Martial. An unknown youth academy player just 6 months ago, Rashford has now made his debut and scored his first goal for the England national team.

The importance of Rashford for Manchester United’s future plans is highlighted by the fact that the deal was signed irrespective of the managerial situation at Old Trafford; his future was reportedly sorted before the club agreed a deal with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho to take over from Van Gaal for the start of the 2016-2017 season. The club clearly sees the teenager, who had just 12 months remaining on his contract, as a very valuable asset and have secured his services for the long-term.

Rashford is expected to sign a four-year deal that will take his new earnings to £20,000-a-week, but the Telegraph reports that he could take home a significantly bigger amount because of appearance bonuses and other performance incentives.
