Paul Pogba is one of the top transfer targets for Chelsea this summer, with incoming boss Antonio Conte eager to work with his former pupil.

Chelsea are reportedly in ‘constant contact’ with Pogba, with the club having last spoken to the Frenchman’s representatives last week, according to a report in Get French Football News.

Pogba, who started out as a youth academy product at Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester United, moved to Juventus in 2012 on a free transfer. Since then, the Frenchman has developed into one of the best midfielders in the world, evidenced by his nomination in the FIFA FIFPro World XI earlier this year.

On the other hand, Chelsea have struggled this season, registering the worst Premier League title defence in history after finishing 10th. In fact, the defending champions were just a few points above the relegation zone in November, before former manager Jose Mourinho was sacked.

One of the main areas that the Blues need to strengthen is the midfield, where the likes of Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas have failed to impress.

Antonio Conte, who is set to take over at Chelsea after Euro 2016, is said to have marked Pogba out as one of his top transfer targets. Conte was the manager who signed Pogba at Juventus and nurtured him into the player he is today.

Pogba must move out of Serie A to stake his claim to greatness

Milan vs Juventus
Paul Pogba has won four consecutive Serie A titles with Juventus in his four-year stay at the club. During this time, the 23-year-old has also helped the Bianconeri reach the final of the Champions League, which they lost to eventual champions Barcelona.

However, performing well in the Serie A might not earn him as many accolades as performing on a regular basis in the more popular Premier League or La Liga, which are considered the top two leagues in the world. With the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona also showing interest in the France midfielder, it will be interesting to see what Pogba opts to do in the immediate future.
