Man United to reward Martial with iconic no. 7 jersey

Manchester United are reportedly looking to change the squad numbers of a couple of players.

Reports from inside the camp say that Anthony Martial will be rewarded with the famous no.7 jersey. Meanwhile, the no.9 will be vacated for Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is expected to sign with the club soon.

In all of this, Memphis Depay, the current no.7, will have to look for a new number as the 22 year-old failed to impress the fans and the board. A disappointing season culminated with him not even being selected in the squad of the FA Cup final. Some believe that it is likely that Jose Mourinho will part ways with Memphis, who has endured a tough first season in the English top-flight.

With the news that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to leave PSG and join the Mancunian club, it has got a lot of ex-players and fans excited regarding the possibility of this transfer. However, it will be interesting to see how so many explosive characters mix together in the Man United dressing room next season, which could be a real juggling act if United have to get their league performances up to the level the fans desire.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Manchester City FC

Mourinho and Zlatan both have increasingly shown a tendency to lose their cool with their team-mates or with the media. In a country like England, such issues are highlighted more than any other countries. Keeping that in mind, Manchester United have to make sure that the long-time club servants like Smalling, De Gea and Rooney do not get sidelined from having a say in the team and to avoid it becoming a Jose and Zlatan show.

With the shuffling of numbers, Liverpool could rekindle their interest in trying to sign Depay as he has considerably fallen out of favor and gone to the back of the line in the pecking order. It will be interesting to see whether Memphis Depay takes up the challenge of working from the bottom next season at United under Mourinho or if he would rather move to a new club to rejuvenate his career.
