Cesc Fabregas insists that incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte would want trophies right away, and there will be no excuses.

Fabregas says that Antonio Conte will not use any excuses and will look to achieve instant success with Chelsea on his arrival.

The Spaniard said on Monday Night Football that what he had heard about the incoming manager, backed up by players who have previously worked with the Italian, was that Conte is disciplined, a winner and a competitor.

“That’s what we need,” Fabregas said. “Someone that will always be on our back to push us and make us work hard, teaching us new things; the things he wants to do and achieve. All I know is that he wants to win straight away. No more transition, no more excuses. He wants to win and for that we’ll have to be prepared from day one.”

Speaking on the incoming manager’s style, Cesc said, “I love football and I’ve been studying a little bit what he does with his previous teams. I played against his Italy recently and it’s really interesting. You can see that he loves offensive football and you can see that tactically his teams are so well organised.”

Belgium vs Italy

Conte made a name for himself as a manager at Juventus where he won 5 trophies, which include three Serie A titles with the Biaconeri before leaving to manage Italy in 2014. The former Juventus midfielder has since helped the Azzurri qualify for the upcoming European Championship. They remained unbeaten in qualification, winning 7 and drawing 3 of their 10 matches.

Chelsea’s future under Conte

Needless to say, Antonio Conte has a huge job to undertake at Chelsea. Abramovich will undoubtedly hand Conte a big transfer budget to get whoever he wishes to Chelsea, but he will also want to see more players from the youth academy as well. Their Under-19 team recently defended their UEFA Youth League crown. So, obviously, there is no shortage of talent.

Over the course of just a season, Chelsea have lost their soul. There seems to be no passion for the game and the players look absolutely uninspired, with the team sleepwalking to the end of the season. Fans have had a roller-coaster season which has seen them go from champions of England to 10th place. Whether Conte can usher a new era of success, only time will tell.
