Juventus are reportedly set to make a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s  Edinson Cavani in the summer transfer window.

According to some reports, the PSG board would like to offload several players and start afresh after the Ligue 1 champions were eliminated from the Champions League by Manchester City. PSG, in the past few weeks, have been rumoured to be considering big money bids for Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar in their quest to establish themselves as a European powerhouse and selling Cavani would help fund these moves.

Cavani has constantly been played out wide and not in his preferred position (as the central striker), with Laurent Blanc favouring Zlatan Ibrahimovic to lead the Parisians’ attack.

According to JuveFC (and Gazzetta Dello Sport), the Italian giants are considering a €40 million bid for the striker and will be offering him a 4 year contract worth around €6.5m per year. The report suggests that Max Allegri wants to bring the Uruguayan to Turin to partner Paulo Dybala in Juventus’ attack. Cavani has been linked to other European heavyweights like Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea but his agent apparently confirmed that his client was happy being in Paris for the time being but wants to be given more opportunities to lead the front line for PSG.

PSG’s loss, Juventus’ Gain

Juventus have been long time admirers of El Matador since his days at Napoli where he set the Serie A ablaze with his performances at the San Paolo, scoring over 70 goals in a little over a 100 appearances. It was at Napoli where he would go on to become one of the top strikers on the planet and catch the attention of nearly ever big club in Europe before moving to PSG.

Juventus would be getting a top European striker who will already be familar with the Italian League. Even with a roster boasting the likes of Mandzukic, Dybala and Morata, the Uruguayan would add something new to the Biaconeri attack, with his dangerous finishing ability, tireless work ethic and tenacity. With Morata rumoured to be on Real Madrid’s shortlist of summer targets, Cavani would be a better, more experienced replacement and is one capable of taking the Biaconeri’s front line to the next level.
