With Manchester United’s managerial saga still on, those close to Jose Mourinho are of the opinion that the Portuguese has almost struck a deal with the Red Devils, according to reports from Spain.

The Manchester United fans have been quite displeased with the fact that the club have failed to live up to the expectations this season, after making a number of big money signings. Also, the fact that the Red Devils have not been producing the attacking brand of football that the Old Trafford is used to has drawn the ire of the fans.

In fact, a number of these fans have been chanting “Attack, attack, attack” at Manchester United’s matches, pleading their players to drop their defensive tactics.

Many have even called for the club to sack Louis van Gaal, and appoint former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho as his replacement. While this is yet to happen, eminent Spanish journalist Guillem Balague says that the deal between Mourinho and Manchester United is “all done” according to Mourinho’s “people”.

However, Balague also says that the club have said that a decision on this matter is yet to be taken. Nevertheless, current Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal seems to believe that his job at Old Trafford is safe.

Is Mourinho past his prime?

Manchester United vs Chelsea

The former Chelsea boss is a well seasoned campaigner, and has won almost everything there is to win in club football. Having beaten the best in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain, Mourinho has proven himself as one of the best managers in the world.

However, his recent failures at Chelsea, just months after he emphatically won the Premier League title with them, suggests that the Special One may have lost his Midas touch. In fact, Chelsea were so bad under him earlier this season, that the Blues were slowly creeping towards the relegation zone before Mourinho got the sack.

However, one swallow does not a summer make, and the Portuguese will be itching to get back to football management in order to prove to his critics that he can still win trophies at the highest level.
