The young midfielder is one of the most highly rated talents in the Arsenal squad, but his off-pitch antics have made things difficult for him at the Emirates, and a disappointed Arsene Wenger is reportedly stalling negotiations over a new contract.

Jack Wilshere has not featured much for Arsenal this campaign, having been sidelined with injury for almost the entire season. The Englishman is still held in high regard by fans and pundits though, and is thought to be one of the potential future bedrocks of the Arsenal team.

However, his future at the club could be in jeopardy, if he continues to attract attention off the pitch. In June last year, Jack Wilshere was fined 40,000 pounds by the FA for his expletive laden anti-Spurs chants after the Gunners won the FA Cup final against Aston Villa. This year, he is presently a suspect in an investigation into a brawl outside a London nightclub, where Wilshere allegedly got into an altercation with the police.

This latest incident has upset his manager Arsene Wenger to such an extent that the Frenchman has put contract negotiations with the young midfielder on hold, according to the Sun.

Wilshere needs to clean up his act

Jack Wilshere is considered to be one of England’s best defensive midfielders. Recently, national manager Roy Hodgson even stated that Wilshere is ahead of the two best central midfield performers of the season, Danny Drinkwater and Eric Dier.

While Dier and Drinkwater have been integral members of the current top two in the Premier League this season, Wilshere hasn’t even featured in a league game for Arsenal. This only goes to show how highly the 24-year-old is rated in England.

Wilshere still has two years to go on an 80,000 pound per week deal with Arsenal, but the latest development will definitely hurt the relationship between player and manager. It seems Wilshere will need to clean up his act, if he wants to move into the next phase of his career and work his way towards professional greatness.
