World Cup winner Mario Gotze might be a popular man in Germany, but the Borussia Dortmund fans have shown that they do not want to see him back in their yellow and black colours in the future.

Gotze was one of the brightest young players at Borussia Dortmund, before he took a £15 million transfer to Bundesliga title rivals Bayern Munich.

More recently, Gotze has been rumoured to have fallen out with current Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola, and allegedly wants a move away from the Bavarian club.

Guardiola himself is set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, with Carlo Ancelotti joining the club in the next campaign, but Gotze does not want to stay at the Allianz Arena, according to reports.

While the 23-year-old has been linked to a number of clubs across Europe, the strongest rumours suggest that he will move to Liverpool, to reunite with former Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp.  The German, who scored the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup has also been strongly linked with a move back to his former club Dortmund. Gotze has also been linked to clubs like AC Milan and Real Madrid.

However, the Dortmund fans seem to have given their verdict on Gotze’s rumoured return to the Ruhr Valley during the club’s 3-2 win over Werder Bremen at the Signal Iduna Park.

They unleashed a huge banner that read, “Milan or Madrid – Just not Dortmund. P*** off Götze” [via Joe.co.uk]. Here is a picture of the banner.

Can Gotze resurrect his career?

Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt

The 23-year-old has been injured for most of the current season, and that has hampered his chances of making it to the Bayern Munich starting XI as often as he would have liked. In fact, he has made just seven starts this season.

However, Gotze was given a start in Bayern Munich’s match against Eintracht Frankfurt which they won 1-0, after he scored a goal in Germany’s 4-1 thrashing of Italy during the international break. His promising form has also ignited hope among fans and admirers that he may be getting back to his usual self, as he recovers from his injury.

However, there is a lot of competition for Gotze’s attacking midfield position in the Bayern Munich squad, with the presence of the likes of Thomas Muller, Douglas Costa, and Thiago Alcantara. A move to a club like AC Milan or Liverpool could benefit both the player and the team, as he will get more chances than he is currently getting at Bayern.
