Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri admitted that the Foxes are having a ‘magical season’ after his side moved seven points clear at the top of the table with a 1-0 win over Southampton.

Captain Wes Morgan’s first goal of the season in the 38th minute gave Leicester City a 1-0 win over Southampton, sending the Foxes seven points clear at the league summit following Tottenham’s 1-1 draw at Anfield on Saturday.

Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri hailed the season as ‘magical’ following Sunday’s victory at the King Power Stadium, admitting that his team is unlikely to repeat the heroics of 2015-16 next season.

“We believe in what we are doing, we believe it’s a magical season and believe next season won’t be the same, but then we try,” Ranieri said after the match, according to the Belfast Telegraph. “We try to do our best. Other teams can win 3-0, 4-0, we have to fight to win 1-0. We must be focused in our way.

“It was a good answer to the Premier League because now everybody is waiting for us after the Liverpool v Tottenham draw. We gave a very good answer”

Saluting Wes Morgan’s performance over the last couple of matches, Ranieri said: “He (Wes Morgan) came back on Friday and was cold and tired. All the players are important and Wes is fantastic, but he is a strong man and a good example for everyone.

“When he speaks everyone listens, but everyone is a leader in my dressing room because everyone knows what I want.”

Can Leicester City win the English Premier League?

With seven points separating them from second-placed Tottenham Hotspur and with six matches to go this season, Leicester City could very well win the English Premier League — even before they face incumbent champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on the final day of the season.

Leicester City vs Southampton

The Foxes have shown their never-say-die attitude throughout this season and now concentration remains the key for Claudio Ranieri and his men to end the season holding the Premier League trophy aloft. Leicester will face their ultimate test of character in the final weeks of the season, however, with the league leaders scheduled to face West Ham United as well as Manchester United, Everton and Chelsea.
