Former Inter Milan President’s sister Bedy Moratti has claimed that ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is on his way to Manchester United next season.

Louis van Gaal’s position at United has come under much scrutiny as reports link his former protégé Jose Mourinho with the top job at Old Trafford. Much to his annoyance, the Dutchman’s tenure at the club has been marred by constant speculation regarding his future

Manchester United’s recent defeat at the hands of FC Midtjylland in the Europa League has once again opened a can of worms at Old Trafford. Louis van Gaal has only won 8 games in 21 fixtures since November last year.

Mourinho is happy now that he is going to United

As reported by calciomercato.com [via The Telegraph], Bedy Moratti, who had lunch with Jose Mourinho in Milan on Friday, revealed that the Portuguese was due to join Manchester United next season. When quizzed regarding Mourinho taking over the reins at Inter Milan next season, she claimed that the former Chelsea boss was ‘happy’ as he was on his way to Manchester United.

“He’s happy now, he’s going to Manchester.”

Is Ed Woodward to be blamed should United lose out on a Champions League spot?

As reported earlier, Jose Mourinho has ruled out a return to Inter Milan while remaining mum over the prospect of managing Manchester United. The Portuguese has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford as Louis van Gaal continues to falter in his second season in charge.

Hence, questions have been asked as to why Ed Woodward hasn’t appointed Jose Mourinho as the manager with United grappling with the consequences of yet another failed season. Keeping Bedy Moratti’s recent comments in mind, maybe Woodward plans to appoint Mourinho at the end of the season instead of sacking Louis van Gaal midway into the season.

However, United’s current run of form could see them miss out on a Champions League spot next season, the burden of which must lie with the Dutchman and Ed Woodward.
