Liverpool FC’s long-term target FC Shakhtar Donetsk defender Alex Texeira is not coming to Anfield this transfer window, but might be an addition to Jurgen Klopp’s side in the upcoming summer window.
Although the Brazilian wanted to make a move to the Merseyside club, FC Shakhtar Donetsk remained adamant to keep the player for the rest of the season at least.
A £25 million bid was rejected by the Ukranian club earlier in the transfer window, as they’re keen to keep the defender at the Donbass Arena. Shakhtar’s initial asking price in reply to Liverpool FC’s bid was £38 million, which was later upped to £53 million.
Jurgen Klopp told the Express, “I am not sure what would be best for the journalists out here, I could say that something might happen or I can say the truth, which is there will not be incoming transfers. No, you can finish work for the day.”
While Klopp states that there won’t be any more deadline day signings, it’s quite possible that players might be leaving in this period. “The players returning from injury are our new signings,” he added.
Russian winger Cheryshev on Liverpool FC’s radar
There was an ongoing rumour that Russian winger and long-time Real Madrid CF player, Denis Cheryshev might be coming on a loan to Anfield.
Zidane, the current manager at Bernabeu, told the Independent, “The important thing for him is to have playing time. He is a great player, he needs time and I wish him the best.If he has the chance to leave and play, then I am delighted for him. We will see tomorrow.”
A youth-team product of Real Madrid FC, Cheryshev has been linked with numerous clubs like Sevilla and Villareal in La Liga, as also Liverpool and Chelsea in the Premier League. He has made only two appearances in La Liga this season, and a loan move seems imminent
With Liverpool out of the equation, it is likely that Sevilla will be his next destination in order to gain more playing time.
