FC Barcelona are reportedly lining up a bizarre move for on-loan Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres, with the Catalans looking to snap up the Spaniard on a free transfer.
Fernando Torres’ loan spell at Atletico will end at the end of this season, and his parent club AC Milan will have the option of either sticking with Torres for a year on a free spell, or making a deal for him. But apparently, FC Barcelona have other ideas.

With Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban, Diego Simeone has to make a decision about Torres’ future this January. But with Los Colchoneros reluctant to take a call, Fernando Torres’ agent has been looking for other options. While pundits are already dismissing the claims of FC Barcelona running after a player who ‘trips his own feet’, reports suggest that FC Barcelona are hunting for a back-up striker who does not expect to play regularly.
With Suarez in red-hot form, Torres will only be seen warming the bench for most of his FC Barcelona career, but it will be no less than what he is doing at Atletico Madrid.
From an FC Barcelona point of view, scooping up the Former Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC man would be perfect. As for Torres, he would not have the chance to score against the only club he can score against. [via ESPNFC]
