Every Liverpool FC fan must have been wearing their hearts on their sleeves during their 5-4 away win over Norwich City, but we would probably never be able to imagine what manager Jurgen Klopp was going through. Midfielder Lucas Leiva has revealed what the German said during the half time for our benefit.

Liverpool FC had not been able to win their previous three Premier League games, and that put a lot of pressure upon the players and their manager Klopp. Thus, it came as no surprise at all that the temperamental German told his team that they must win the match at all costs.

“Of course, we are happy to get the result. Especially the way it was at half-time,” Lucas was quoted as saying by Liverpool Echo. “The manager just said we had to find a way to win. We did it. Of course, it’s not the best way to win a game but maybe it was what we needed.”

The 5-4 scoreline might have been a thrilling one for the fans, but defensively, it would have been a heart-attack. Lucas agreed that his side needs to improve on that in order to win more games.

“If we can score five goals and defend set-pieces especially a little bit better, we would be winning games more comfortably. It’s better to win the game but we know we have to improve,” he said.

Are the Premier League sides forgetting to defend?

In the recent game weeks, the Premier League has witnessed a few really open matches where both sides had a real go at each other’s goals, and the games themselves ended up being quite high-scoring ones. Newcastle United 3-3 Manchester United, Chelsea FC 2-2 West Brom, Liverpool FC 3-3 Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC 3-3 Everton, and finally Norwich 4-5 Liverpool FC, are all testament to the facts that the Premier League is churning out much more interesting games for the viewers. However, the question that any connoisseur of football would ask in this regard is whether the teams have forgotten to defend in their search for goals.
