In an encounter which is bound to be intense, Chelsea FC make a trip to the Emirates Stadium to face rivals Arsenal FC in the Premier League on Sunday. The Blues have good news ahead of the fixture, as Hiddink has confirmed the fitness of both Eden Hazard and Diego Costa.

Chelsea are yet to secure a signature in the January transfer window, as they face a series of important clashes in the coming weeks. But when Guus Hiddink addressed the media ahead of Sunday’s fixture, the 69-year-old insisted that his team are on the right track.

Costa and Hazard declared fit

Eden Hazard missed the last couple of games with injury and the Belgian was a doubt for this weekend’s game. Diego Costa had been struggling with a bruised tibia, and the Spaniard’s inclusion was also doubtful against the Gunners. However, Hiddink has declared both his key players fit to play, but it remains uncertain whether Hazard will start.

“He was in the team, well prepared until two days ago by the physios and then he started participating in the team,” the Dutchman said, as reported by Get West London.

“In the last two days he was in full training. He’s available.

“We have to be careful as he’s fallen into injuries recently. I’m not sure whether he can play a full 90 minutes.”

Top four finish within Chelsea’s reach?

With 25 points off 22 games, Chelsea find themselves in the 14th position. Arsenal, the league leaders, are on 44 points and 4th placed Tottenham are on 39. With 16 games to play, it is unlikely that Chelsea would be able to make the cut for the Champions league. However, as Premier League is known for providing an element of drama, a good run of form could bring the Champions back in contention for a respectable finish to the season.
