According to reports emerging from Spain, Atletico Madrid are keen to offer Antoine Griezmann a new contract with a €100m release clause in a bid to thwart off interest from the likes of Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
Chelsea FC have been previously linked with a move for the French international who has scored 39 goals (and made 10 assists) in 78 games since switching over to Atletico Madrid from Real Sociedad in 2014.
New contract will increase the release clause to €100m
While Griezmann’s current contract runs till 2020, according to a report published by AS, Atletico Madrid are considering offering the French forward a new contract in a bid to ward off interest from other European clubs. His current contract includes an €80m release clause and given his current form, it will not be surprising to see heavyweights like Bayern Munich and Chelsea meet Atletico Madrid’s asking price in order to tempt the player away.
Griezmann wanted by Chelsea FC, PSG, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid
Apart from Chelsea FC, the French international is also reportedly wanted by PSG, Bayern Munich and arch rivals Real Madrid. However, Antoine Griezmann is allegedly satisfied at Madrid and has given his word to the club that he will not listen to ‘offers from any other club, Real Madrid included, for two years’.
Antoine Griezmann has established himself as the focal point of the team’s attack and has already scored 14 goals in 25 appearances this season. Hence it will be interesting to see if the French international agrees to an improved contract that could potentially tie him to the club for the next two to three years.
