Inter Milan Terminate Ex-Manchester United Player Nemanja Vidic’s Contract

Nemanja Vidic and Inter have mutually agreed to terminate the Serbian’s contract, according to reports from Di Marzio’s website. 

The defender joined the Nerazzurri from Manchester United in 2014, but his stint has been anything but successful. The Serbian international has not played a single minute this season after a hernia surgery. Inter and Vidic are in total agreement to terminate the contract almost 6 months before it expires. The news will be officially confirmed in the next few days.

Vidic last played a competitive game on the 16th of May, a 2-1 defeat to rivals Juventus. He lost his place in the first team under Roberto Mancini, failing to replace Miranda or Jeison Murillo in the starting lineup. Nemanja Vidic featured 23 times for Inter in the Serie A scoring 1 goal only.

Possible Move To MLS

Vidic is now officially a free agent and would be free to move to another  club in the January transfer window. Football Italia believes that his contract was terminated to allow him to join DC United in MLS, also owned by Inter President Erick Thohir.

MLS has been the destination of many ageing stars and  it wont come as a surprise if Vidic adds to that list.

Major League Soccer resumes in March, with DC United facing LA Galaxy on March 6.

A Return To Old Trafford?

A potential  return to Old Trafford looks unlikely at this point of his career. He is yet to play a single game this season and his fitness is questionable. He is far from the dominant presence he once was and with the likes of Smalling, Jones and Blind doing a decent job for Van Gaal at the back, a return to Old Trafford seems like a distant dream even though Manchester United fans are appealing to Van Gaal on social media to sign him up.

Vidic spent eight years playing for United, winning five league titles, three League Cups and the Champions League trophy in the process.
